Lincoln Continental Mark III RestoMod

Site dedicated to 1968-71 Lincoln Continental Mark III's, Ford Thunderbirds and forgotten big cars.

About The Car

My project car is a 1969 Lincoln Continental Mark III. This is not to be confused with a 1969 Lincoln Continental, 2-door or 4-door.  They share the Lincoln badging, but are different in many ways.  While many of these discussions could probably apply to the Continental’s, most of the dimensions are different.

My car came into my possession without an engine or transmission.  It was a rust survivor, and had lots of sub-par “fixes” that miraculously didn’t produce an earlier demise.  Since this is not a numbers-matching car, and since the condition is what you’d expect for $1200, I felt free to make repairs and modifications per my desires.  This is a restomod, not a restoration.  I have no intention of keeping it (or returning it) to how it was in 1969.  Overall, the body will remain the same.  It is still powered by a glorious Ford Big Block, with modern refinements.

I envision Lincoln like a prize-fighter in a tuxedo. Just because he dresses sharp, doesn’t mean he can’t knock your lights out.  The original Mark III’s were a 16 second quarter mile car.  We will knock several seconds off that time in order to have some fun and surprise a few ricers at the lights.  This might look like grandpa’s Lincoln but rest assured…it’s not.

About Me

I was born and raised in wonderful rural Montana. There I gained a love for being outdoors and working on old cars.

My life took several detours, including my enlistment in the United States Marine Corps and a couple trips to Iraq for OIF. After returning with a newfound appreciation for life and the freedoms of our country and decided to put my GI Bill to use.

I enrolled in a welding/machining program with Montana State University’s College of Technology before venturing into the desert southwest to the Universal Technical Institute. There I graduated with an Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology and was Ford FACT certified.  I turned wrenches for pay for a short while before the economy urged me back to school.  I shifted focus into the world of public education where I have a part molding the next generation as a US History teacher in western Washington State.  My three biggest passions are cars, shooting, and writing–and I’m indebted to have a wife that supports my obsessions.  Without her, this car project would have never happened.
